2023 Application Guide for Undergraduate Programs of HYIT for International Students

I. Introduction to Huaiyin Institute of Technology (HYIT)

HYIT was established in 1958, which is a university with distinguishing application characteristics under Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and a Masters degree awarding unit. It is located in Huai’an, a renowned national historical and cultural city in Jiangsu Province. It’s also the birthplace of Zhou Enlai, the first premier of the People’s Republic of China. HYIT has modern libraries, complete sports facilities, student activity centers, and advanced teaching equipment and laboratories. There are more than 22,000 registered full-time students, including more than 1000 post-graduate students. HYIT has more than 1,300 faculty members, including 538 postgraduate supervisors. There are altogether 22 teaching and research units, and 71 undergraduate programs. HYIT actively promotes the academic internationalization and has established friendly and cooperative relations with more than 20 countries and many colleges and universities in Taiwan. It has initiated joint undergraduate programs and postgraduate programs with them. It has 2 brand majors of International Talents Training in the colleges and universities of Jiangsu Province, 2 Joint International Research Laboratory programs, 1 key platform construction program of overseas high-level talents introduction and 3 foreign expert studios. The School of International Education was founded in 2016, awarded by Jiangsu Province Advanced Group for International Students Education many times, and nearly 400 international students from 42 countries have been enrolled and cultivated since then.

II. Study Mode & Duration

The mode of study is full-time and the normal duration is 4 years. The flexible duration is from 3 years to 6 years. HYIT implements a two-semester system a year, namely, the spring and autumn semesters. The autumn semester starts from September to January of the following year, and the spring semester starts from February to July.

VI. Introductions of Programs

1. The major of Software Engineering is a national first-class undergraduate major construction point, a brand major of International Talents Training in the 14th five-year colleges and universities of Jiangsu Province, and a pilot major of Jiangsu Excellent Engineer (Software) Education and Training Plan. It is a key construction discipline in 13th Five-Year Plan and 14th Five-Year Plan of Jiangsu Province and has 1 Jiangsu foreign expert workshop. It also has established a first-class cloud computing center, Inspur artificial intelligence platform, a blockchain technology platform and so on. It has cooperated with a number of technology enterprises to cultivate engineering and technical talents engaging in system analysis, design, development, process, operation management and other activities in the field of software engineering through in-depth integration of industry and education. This major has been recruiting international students since 2016, and has rich experience in training international students.

2. The major of Communication Engineering is a national first-class undergraduate major construction point, a major that has passed the engineering education professional certification, a brand major of International Talents Training in the 14th five-year colleges and universities of Jiangsu Province, and a pilot major of Jiangsu Excellent Engineer (Software) Education and Training Plan. It has enrolled international students since 2018 and cultivated high-quality applied talents who have engineering practice ability in signal processing, wireless communication, data exchange, communication network and other fields, and are capable of engaging in application research, system development, operation and maintenance, project management and other work in information and communication related fields to promote the high-quality development of the “the Belt and Road”.

3. The major of International Economics and Trade is a provincial first-class major construction point with 1 provincial scientific research platform of the Taiwan Business Research Center, 1 excellent innovation team of philosophy and social sciences in Jiangsu universities, 2 provincial practical teaching platforms of Jiangsu International Business Talent Training Service Platform and Jiangsu Business Talent Practical Education Center, and more than 30 internship bases. Since 2016, this major has started to recruit and train international students, and cultivate senior professionals who are familiar with international trade practices and rules and Chinese foreign trade policies and regulations, and can engage in international economic and trade business, management, research, teaching and research in foreign-related economic and trade departments, foreign-funded enterprises, government agencies and scientific research institutions.

IV. Application Requirements

1. The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen holding a valid foreign passport. The original citizens of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have a record of actual residence abroad for more than 2 years within the last 4 years (before April 30 of the enrollment year) (Actually living abroad for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, subject to entry and exit signatures).

2. Applicants must have a high school diploma or above with good grades.

3. Applicants should be over 18 years old but not over 25 years old, physically and mentally healthy, and well behaved. (For boarders under the age of 18 and whose parents do not resident in China, a formal power of attorney from their parents is required.)

4. Language requirements

(1) For Chinese-instruction programs, applicants should have HSK 4 or above certificate.

(2) For English-instruction programs, applicants must have IELTS 5.5 or above, IBT 75 or above or other equivalent English proficiency certificate. If the pre-courses use English as the medium of instruction, the above certificate of English proficiency is not required, but the applicants whose native language is not English shall provide relevant certificate that the teaching language is English.

5. Applicants should voluntarily abide by Chinese laws, regulations and school rules and regulations, know China and love China and have not been subject to any disciplinary action or criminal punishment.

10. Physical examination report within 6 months (Download the Foreign Physical Examination Form and go to a regular local hospital to complete the examination. The form must to be written in Chinese or English and an official seal must to be stamped on the photo.

Notice:

(1) Documents not in Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized Chinese / English translations;

(2) The files uploaded must be colored scan copies of the original ones. The applicants should guarantee that the information and materials provided are accurate and genuine without any counterfeiting, otherwise the admission will be canceled. The original copy should be provided for future reference at the beginning of the semester.

VII. Application Examination and Admission

6. Register at the school at the specified time (in September of each year, the specific date is subject to the admission notice)

VIII. Scholarships

1. Applicants can apply for the scholarship for new international students from Huaiyin Institute of Technology:

2. After one year study, students can apply for the Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship, the Excellent International Student Scholarship of Huaiyin Institute of Technology and the International Student Scholarship of the School of International Education of Huaiyin Institute of Technology.
