Application Guide for Foundation Program at Huai’an University
I. Introduction to Huai’an University (HAU)
Huai’an University (HAU, formerly known as Huaiyin Institute of Technology), founded in 1958, is located in Huai’an City, Jiangsu Province—the hometown of Premier Zhou Enlai and a renowned historical and cultural city in China. As a government-run university with distinctive applied features under Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, it is currently a master’s degree-conferring unit, a construction unit of Jiangsu Province’s first-class applied undergraduate universities, and a project construction unit for doctoral degree authorization. HAU has modern libraries, complete sports facilities, student activity centers, and advanced teaching equipment and laboratories. There are more than 24,000 registered full-time students, including more than 1,500 post-graduate students. HAU has more than 1,400 faculty members, including about 700 postgraduate supervisors. The school has 6 provincial key disciplines during the 14th Five Year Plan period and 6 disciplines in the top 1% of ESI global rankings. HAU actively promotes the academic internationalization and has established friendly and cooperative relations with 60 colleges and universities in 22 countries and Taiwan region. It has initiated joint undergraduate programs and postgraduate programs with them. It has 2 brand majors of International Talents Training in the colleges and universities of Jiangsu Province, 2 Joint International Research Laboratory programs, 1 key platform construction program of overseas high-level talents introduction and 3 foreign expert studios. The School of International Education was founded in 2016, awarded by Jiangsu Province Advanced Group for International Students Education many times, and nearly 500 international students from 42 countries have been enrolled and cultivated since then.
II. Project Introduction
This foundation program is a pre-undergraduate preparatory non-degree program established by the School of International Education, HAU. The foundation program is customized to the characteristics of international students, offering Chinese language training (HSK preparation), foundational courses in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, as well as education on China’s national conditions and cross-cultural communication courses. It aims to help international students improve their Chinese proficiency and international communication skills, prepare for CSCA, and lay a solid foundation for their undergraduate studies.
The foundation program lasts one academic year, divided into two semesters: the Fall and Spring semesters. Enrollment is for the Fall semester. The Fall semester runs from September 2026 to January 2027, and the Spring semester runs from February 2027 to June 2027 (specific dates are subject to the information on the admission letter).

IV. Application Requirements
1. The Applicant shall be a non-Chinese citizen holding a valid foreign passport, and shall not exceed 22 years of age.
2. Applicants must hold a high school diploma or an equivalent academic qualification.
2. Applicants must be friendly towards China, have a clean criminal record, be in good physical and mental health, abide by Chinese laws, regulations, and university rules, and respect Chinese cultural customs.

6. Physical examination report within 6 months (Download the Foreign Physical Examination Form and go to a regular local hospital to complete the examination. Notice:
(1) Documents not in Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized Chinese / English translations;
(2) The files uploaded must be colored scan copies of the original ones. The original copy should be provided for future reference at the beginning of the semester.
VI. Application & Admission Procedure
1. Application Method and Deadline
The applicants should submit materials through the online application platform and pay a non-refundable application fee of 400 RMB. link: https://hyit.at0086.cn/student. Application deadline: June 30th.
2. Admission Procedure
(1) Applicants submit the required documents as requested and upload the receipt of the application fee.
(2) The application documents will be reviewed and an assessment will be organized.
(3) Issue the pre-admission notice
(4) Pre-payment of Admission Deposit (3000RMB) within the specified date (It can be used to offset tuition fees upon enrollment. If overdue, it will be deemed waived)
(5) Issue formal Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (Form JW202)
(6) Register at the school at the specified time (in September of each year, the specific date is subject to the admission notice)
VII. Fees for Studying at HAU and Payment Mode (RMB)
1. Tuition: 12000 yuan/year
2. Teaching materials: 800 yuan/year (Self-payment after registration)
3. Accommodation fee: 2600-3000 yuan/person/year (double room),
4000-6000 yuan/person/year (single room).
4. Comprehensive medical insurance: 600-800 yuan/person/year (Self-payment before registration)
VIII. Scholarship Policies
1. Students who achieve HSK Level 4 during their studies in the foundation program will be awarded a scholarship of 1,000 RMB.
2. HAU under-graduate program will prioritize the admission of outstanding foundation program graduates and give them priority access to various scholarship application channels.
